Understory hardwoods consist of deciduous and evergreen hardwood tree species growing beneath the forest canopy. Some issues with deciduous woody brush are resprouting from root systems, aggressive germination in disturbed areas, aggressive competition for soil moisture, excessive fuel accumulation and fire risk, road obstruction, as well as shading out reforestation areas.
