Grass is a monocotyledon plant, herbaceous plants with narrow leaves growing from the base. Poaceae or Gramineae is a large and nearly ubiquitous family of monocotyledonous flowering plants known as grasses. It includes the cereal grasses, bamboos and the grasses of natural grassland and species cultivated in lawns and pasture. Some issues associated with grasses are aggressive competition for soil moisture, fire hazard, and out competition of conifer seedlings during reforestation efforts.
