June 20 - Pre- Tour Events: Fishing Derby!!

  • 4 boats for a total of 48 slots available - half-day rock fishing trips

    • 24 people in the morning - starting at 6AM

    • 24 people in the afternoon - starting at 12PM

  •  Cost $60/person to cover guide tip and fishing prizes - payable to Beau Miller

  •  Pre-tour social fish fry at Camp Bauer, everyone welcome - 5 pm.

    • From Hwy 299 Blue Lake Exit, follow Blue Lake Boulevard (East) through the roundabout, continuing straight.  Continue past the Blue Lake School, the 76 Gas Station and the rural housing, stay on this main route approximately 3-4 miles. You will pass the North Fork Lumber Company (previously the Simpson Timber mill) complex on the left and curve right over the concrete North Fork Mad River bridge. Stay straight after the bridge (with more housing on both sides of the road.  Just as you start up the hill and just pass the houses on your left, ON YOUR LEFT you will see the entrance to Camp Bauer. If you start up the hill, curving to your right you have gone too far!!

    • ***Absolutely NO Dogs are allowed in Camp Bauer; You will be turned away at the gate***

 
Day 1: Dinner and Tour

  • Tour route runs through the Blue Lake, Korbel, Crannell areas (Cal Trans/Green Diamond); Hosted Dinner at Camp Bauer.  

  • On the day of the event, Sign-in starts at 6; coffee and food available at 6:30; buses leave promptly at 7am.

  • Breakfast items will be available at 6 am

Day 2: Tour 

  • Tour runs south from the Arcata Marsh, through Scotia to Dyerville Road (Park/HRC).

  • Site Prep ** Pre and Post Planting

    • Velpar-Esplanade (Redwood crop) Trials

    • Garlon-Transline-Oust (3 yr data with measurements)

    • Multi-year treatments

  • Invasive species applications (roadside and regeneration units)

    • Gly vs Imazapyr (Fall and Spring comparisons)

    • Papas Grass – Scotch Broom

  • Saw-n-Spray for larger sprouting brush to stay within label of 2# Imazapyr

  • Hack Trials – Bay, Eucalyptus w/ multiple products

  • Foliar Trials: Blueblossom-Manzanita-Berries; Fall and Spring comparisons

  • Law and Regs Updates – State DPR Representative

  • Contractor Application Inspection Procedures – County Agg Representative

Donations can be made at the time of ticket purchase, mail in check to CFPC, or separately through the link on our website.
